My name is Greta Faccio, Ph.D. and I am the daughter of a typographer and an accountant that could not study and dreamed big. I have a Ph.D. in genetics, been a postdoc for some good five years, and crossed many fields from protein science, to food science, biochemistry, biosensing, and biomaterial science. With more than 1700 citations, my H-index is now 21. I am an elected member of Sigma XI and the Biobio Society.
You might have come across my article in Science on ‘Working Life’ on how I moved to the private sector from academia without compromising in personal fulfilment, or in THE Times Higher Education on how to find satisfaction after working as a scientists. I have lived in the north of Italy until my master studies, I moved to the UK for a year with the Erasmus program, later to Finland for the PhD, and eventually to Switzerland for a 5-year postdoc. Work and passions have resulted in >50 publications and one pending patent now available for selling/licensing.
I have supervised students and professionals, and attended various training on mentoring and coaching, i.e. ‘Mentoring as a Coach‘, ‘Be a Great Mentor: A Practical Guide to Mentorship’ and others that you can see on my Linkedin profile. You will find there my full list of publications.

Since 2022 I am a Mentor in the Start Up program at StartHub Wageningen at Wageningen University & Research, Wageningen, Netherlands, and a Scientific advisor at Divergenta.ch, a non-profit association that aims to contribute to the understanding of neurodiversity and thus to the equality of neurodivergent youngs. Since a couple of years, I support the PowerHub Zub to mentor Ukrainian women looking for a new work situation and I have recently joined the The Peer Exchange Platform for Narrative-style CVs – PEPCV for Marie Curie fellows as mentor.
